However, despite this potential, the sector’s contribution to Pakistan’s GDP remains modest. In 2019, tourism accounted for just 2.9% of the nation’s GDP—a figure that, while significant, could be much higher with the right initiatives.

Tourism doesn’t just boost GDP—it creates jobs and uplifts communities. For instance, in regions like Gilgit-Baltistan and Swat, the influx of tourists has led to increased local employment, not just in direct tourism-related jobs but also in supporting industries like agriculture and handicrafts. 

This ripple effect has the power to alleviate poverty and improve living standards, particularly in rural areas that have long been overlooked.


Changing Perceptions

The Changing Perceptions initiative was born out of a desire to tell a different story about Pakistan—one that counters the often negative narratives seen globally. Through strategic partnerships and high-impact campaigns, we’re showcasing the Pakistan we know and love.

The results are already evident, with a surge in both domestic and international tourism. In regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for example, tourism has seen unprecedented growth, contributing significantly to the local economy and showing the world a side of Pakistan that often goes unnoticed.
